Before importing samples, all shipments declared of no commercial value must be properly mutilated.
SARS publishes guidelines for sample mutilation of footwear, textiles, and various garments. If these are not adhered to, SARS may levy a penalty, request a declaration of true value and charge duty and tax. This process not only costs money but delays the shipment release.
To ensure compliance, samples sent to the Royale International Group offices in South Africa (or the USA, UK, Europe or Asia) will be checked and mutilated to fit the no commercial value criteria.
